Black Gold Bulldogs is committed to the ethical treatment and care of its breed. The puppies are birthed via cesarean section, due to their large heads and exceptionally wide shoulders. The size can put both the mother and puppies at risk of death, making the c-section the most humane option for breeding. As a result of such a birthing method, Black Gold Bulldogs spends the first few weeks hand-feeding the pups. English Bulldog puppies get their great temperament from such interaction, often spending more time with human caregivers than their own mothers.
As much as 85 percent of the puppies produced by Black Gold Bulldogs are sold to other breeders. As a result, bloodlines from Don Edward?s studs and females can be found in nearly all of the rare-colored English Bulldogs throughout the United States. English Bulldogs typically come in red brindle, red, fawn, fawn brindle or white colors, but rarer colors, the kind in which Black Gold Bulldogs specializes, include black, blue, gray, and lilac with white or tri-color
Black Gold Bulldogs are the proud owners of the only currently breeding-age lilac English Bulldog, named Luxor. The stud?s unique color is created through an even combination of chocolate and blue genes. All lilac English Bulldogs known to exist in the world have Rocky from Blackgold Bulldogs in their pedigree.
Great care is given to English Bulldogs produced and owned by Black Gold. Older, retired males and females are typically taken care of by the owners until their natural deaths, or placed in appropriate households. The facilities at Black Gold Bulldogs must meet rigorous health and safety standards in order to maintain American Kennel Club certification as well as USDA inspections. The company undergoes regular inspection and passes with flying colors.
