Dix Poppas - Professional Summary:
Dr. Dix Poppas is a leading authority in the field of urology, and holds several professorships at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he serves as Professor of Urology, Professor of Urology in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor of Urology in Pediatrics, the Richard Rogers Family Professor of Pediatric Urology, and Professor of Urology in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In addition, Dr. Dix Poppas is the Director of Pediatric Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery for the LeFrak Center for Robotic Surgery, and in this respect is one of the most highly trained and experienced pediatric urologists working throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Dr. Dix Poppas received his Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, subsequently gaining a paramedic degree from VCU’s Medical College of Virginia. He then studied at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, where he graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in 1988. Dix Poppas went on to complete an internship at the School and spent two years there as a general surgery resident. Dr. Dix Poppas later pursued professional development through programs offered by the University of Pennsylvania’s Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, including the Health Care Executive Management Program, Advanced Executive Management Program, and Wharton Executive Management Program for Academic Surgery Leaders.
Among other honors, Dix Poppas received the Von L. Meyer Fellowship Award from the Boston Children’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School, and the E. Darracott Vaughan Young Investigator Award from the National Kidney Foundation of New York and New Jersey. He has been listed among the Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Castle Connelly Guide’s Top Doctors in America on numerous occasions.
