Diomansy Kamara is a Senegalese striker born on November 8, 1980 in Paris, France. He was included into the Senegal national football team in 2003. As of 2008, He has made 43 appearances for the team scoring 9 times. Diomansy Kamara is a part of the Senegal squad at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial football tournament for nations affiliated to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). In a match against Liberia in June 2008, Kamara ruptured his cruciate ligament and he has to undergo a reconstructive surgery for curing this injury.


Diomansy Kamara kicked off his football career in 1998 at Red Star 93, a French football club. During 1999-00, he joined Catanzaro F.C., and made 34 league appearances for it and had 9 goals to his credit. In 2001, Diomansy Kamara was signed by Modena F.C. of Serie B, the second highest football league in Italy and made an impressive stint with 11 goals in 57 games.


In August 2004, he signed a record deal of £2.5m with Portsmouth F.C. He made his debut in a 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace before netting his first goal in a 1-0 Carling Cup win at Tranmere Rovers. After playing 29 games, scoring 6 times for Portsmouth, Diomansy Kamara moved to West Bromwich Albion F.C., in July 2005. On August 13, 2005, he made his debut for the club against Manchester City, replacing Kanu in the 60th minute in a 0–0 draw away.


Diomansy Kamara scored his first goal for West Bromwich Albion in a 4-1 win over Bradford City in the League Cup, held on September 20, 2005, at the Hawthorns. In December 2005, he scored his first league goal in a 2-0 win against Manchester City. During 2006-07, Diomansy Kamara netted a total of 23 goals from all competitions he took part, helping West Bromwich Albion reach the playoff final. Owing to his goal scoring exploits, Diomansy Kamara went on to win the Powerade Championship ‘Player-of-the-Month’ award for October 2006 as well as the PFA Fans' ‘Player-of-the-Month’ award for February 2007. He clinched the West Bromwich Albion 'Player of the Year' title and was named in the PFA Championship ‘Team of the year’.


In July 2007, Diomansy Kamara signed a five year record deal with Premiership side Fulham F.C., for a whopping £6m. After his debut against Arsenal F.C., in August, he scored his first goal in a 1-0 win against Shrewsbury Town F.C., in the League Cup, later that month. Diomansy Kamara notched his first league goal, a superb late overhead kick, in a 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
