With four albums to her credit and four more forthcoming, Diane Armesto continues to establish herself as an acclaimed jazz vocalist. Based in Rochester, New York, home of the renowned Eastman School of Music, Diane Armesto has spent many years contributing to this city's vibrant music scene. When Diane Armesto decided to begin her career, she assembled a team of seasoned jazz pianists to include Russ Schmidt, Harold Danko, Joe Santora, and Bill Dobbins. She has worked and recorded with drummers Mike Melito and Rich Thompson, who is on the Eastman faculty. Diane has also recorded with Joe LaBarbera, who in the past performed with Bill Evans and Tony Bennett. Diane Armesto’s bassist is Fred Stone, Jr., who has performed with jazz luminaries Mel Lewis, Buddy Rich, Chet Baker, Jerry Bergonzi, and Mike Stern.
Diane Armesto’s first album, EVERYTHING I LOVE, was a well-received collection of jazz standards and originals, all featuring Diane Armesto’s signature style. Critics have praised her work as “uncompromising,” and applauded her deep, rich alto voice and her unique style of phrasing. Diane Armesto continued to draw upon a mix of classic jazz repertoire with originals for her later efforts, CLASSIC JAZZ STANDARDS AND ORIGINALS, JAZZ WITH BRASS WINDS & STRINGS, and BALLADS WITH STRINGS. Ms. Armesto will soon be releasing her latest CDs that she has been recording in both Rochester and New York City.
