Deiberson Geovanni was born on January 11, 1980 in Acaiaca, Brazil and plays as an attacking midfielder. Deiberson Geovanni began his international career in 2000 Olympics held in Australia, in which he was a crucial member of his team. He was a part of four international caps that Brazil has won, and in 2003, he scored his first international goal in a friendly match against Bolivia.


Deiberson Geovanni started his club career in 1997 with the Cruzeiro Esporte Club’s youth set-up. He was loaned to America Football Club (FC) from 1998 to 1999, for which he appeared in a total of 15 games at the right wing position and scored a goal for the club. After his loan period with America FC, he was elevated into the first team of Cruzeiro.


Impressed by his performance, Barcelona FC signed Deiberson Geovanni for a huge fee of 18 million Euros in 2001. He demonstrated his talents in a match against Athletic Bilbao FC during which he was named Man of the Match. He was loaned to Benfica SL and he appeared in 17 matches for the club netting three goals. The move was made permanent costing Benfica a fee of £11 million. Deiberson Geovanni was an important member of team that won the Portuguese Cup in 2004 and first league title after 11 years in 2005. At Benfica SL, he made a total of 101 appearances scoring 17 goals. After the contract with SL Benfica was over, he again joined Cruzeiro and represented the club in 12 matches scoring two goals.


Deiberson Geovanni made a short term trial with Portsmouth before he joined the Manchester City FC on a one-year contract on July 17, 2007. He scored in his first game for Manchester City in a 2-0 win over West Ham United FC on August 11, 2007. As a starter of the team, he netted the only goal in a 1-0 win against Manchester United, which gave them a good start to the Premiership giving three wins in a row. On December 1, 2007, Deiberson Geovanni made another start in the Premiership in a match against Wigan Athletic.


On July 5, 2008, Deiberson Geovanni was signed by the Hull City football club. He made his debut for Hull City and netted the team’s first Premiership goal in a 2-1 win against the Fulham FC on 16 August, 2008. For his impressive performance, he was awarded the Man of the Match.
