As the Senior Director of Economic Programs for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Mr. Muhammad contributes his expertise on a daily basis, working to further the advocacy goals of this historic organization. Mr. Muhammad currently leads and oversees the management of the economic projects and initiatives of the NAACP. In this capacity, Dedrick Muhammad strengthens the NAACP’s position as one of the most highly recognized and established civil rights organizations in operation today.
Previous to his work with the NAACP, Dedrick Muhammad worked for the Institute for Policy Studies as the Senior Organizer and Research Associate. Focusing on matters of economic inequality and the effects of economic policy on minorities, Mr. Muhammad completed research on numerous topics, including the effects of the recession on Native American populations, as well as the continuing wealth disparity between African Americans and White Americans. Dedrick Muhammad also contributed his expertise to Morgan State University, and to the organization Global Justice, where he served as the Executive Director.
Dedrick Muhammad completed his undergraduate studies at Williams College, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Mr. Muhammad went on to attain his Master’s degree in Theology from the Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. An avid opponent of inequality and injustice, Dedrick Muhammad remains passionate in the fight to end racial and minority disparities.
