Davin Qually was the Head of four Test Laboratories within the South African Bureau of Standards (similar to BSI in the UK) where he managed 10 technicians and handled all customer relations, installations, finance, internal HR and training. Being a technical signatory he was responsible for implementing and maintaining the ISO 17025 accreditation of these laboratories which specialized in plumbing, health sanitation and renewable energy.
Davin designed and commissioned the first Solar Water Heating Test Facility in Africa where numerous thermal and mechanical tests were conducted on various systems and designs. Davin has personally installed over 250 different solar heating systems covering all technologies, (flat plate, evacuated tubes, trough, domestic to commercial size systems) which gives him tremendous amount of experience working with Solar Thermal.
From there Davin has taken on consulting contracts which allowed him to be part of the technical advisory board for Eskom Solar Water Heating roll out program, which is the first subsidy towards renewable energy in South Africa. This gave Davin the prime seat at the front of aligning the public sector with the regulations and specification with in the industries. Davin is accustom to researching new renewable technologies, improving current system designs, designing system installations and creating maintenance plans for the systems.
Apart from obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Davin has attended various solar thermal courses which has broadened his knowledge of renewable energies, solar thermal and solar PV. As well as obtaining ISO 17025 accreditation which allowed him to audit international Solar Thermal manufacturing companies for National compliance (Germany, Greece, Brazil, China and Thailand)
