David Wood - Professional Summary:     [

 

After leaving the Fleet Air Arm in the 70's, attended CSE at Kiddlington, becoming one of the first CAA License Without Type Rated Aircraft Engineers in the UK. Recruited by Bristow Helicopters of Redhill in Surrey, completed the required training for extending the License to a Type Rating on Westland Wessex Helicopters and then was posted out to Nigeria.

 

Further experience and courses added WS55, Bell 206 and B105 to the type ratings. On completion of 2 contract tours employment, went to the Sultanate of Oman, working for the Police Airwing as Deputy Chief Engineer, and then to Emirates in Abu Dhabi, as the Maintenance/Project Manager, in charge of the total refurbishment of the UAE Airforce fleet of aircraft.     

 

On return to the UK worked at Biggin Hill, until the company was bought out by the Hunting Group, so returned to Nigeria, working for Dutch Company, Schreiners (ACN). On completion of the contract, Marconi offered the opportunity to set up and establish the aircraft operations and maintenance for their leased commuter aircraft, at Coventry Airport. Under market pressure, the Marconi Group collapsed, so work location again changed, following wife Pauline to Spain, where she had been deployed to by her companies Head Office.  

 

On return from the Spanish deployment, took up a role in the UK, contracted to Airbus, who wanted to use experience gained in various positions, as an ILS/Supportability/Maintainability Engineer.
