Since 1980, Dr. David W. Stewart has provided high-quality advisement services in the areas of marketing and management as the founder of the Stewart Associates consultancy. Numerous international companies and corporations including Century 21 Real Estate LLC, the Xerox Corporation, and IBM, as well as government agencies such as the United States Census Bureau, have contracted Dr. Stewart for his expertise. Dr. David W. Stewart's vast knowledge in the areas of branding and consumer psychology led to his role as an expert witness for the Federal Trade Commission in matters concerning deceptive advertising.
Today, Dr. David W. Stewart writes, conducts research, and instructs students at the University of California, Riverside, as a Distinguished Professor of Management and Marketing. His career in education began in 1980 with his appointment to an Associate Professor position at Vanderbilt University. While a member of the Vanderbilt faculty, he served as Chair of the Marketing Department and Senior Associate Dean. In 1986, Dr. David W. Stewart left Vanderbilt to become the Robert E. Brooker Professor of Marketing at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
A prolific writer, Dr. David W. Stewart has shared his knowledge of marketing and psychology in over 200 published articles and multiple books, including Immigration and Education: The Crisis and the Opportunities and Secondary Research: Information Sources and Methods. In 1989, he received the American Academy of Advertising Award for Best Paper in the Journal of Advertising. He also won the Ivan L. Preston Outstanding Contribution to Research Award from the American Academy of Advertising in 1998.
Committed to serving his community, Dr. David W. Stewart sits on a number of committees and maintains membership with charitable associations. He serves on the City of Riverside's Council of Economic and Workforce Advisors and participates as a member of the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership. He also supports the UC Riverside Foundation, the Riverside Art Museum, and the National Charity League, Inc.
