David Pham was born in South Vietnam in 1967. When he was 17 years old, he came to the United States. His first job in America was with his uncle, working in his laundry business. It happened to be that the uncle was no other but Men Nguyen, a famous professional poker player who won a World Series gold bracelet. He taught his young cousin how to play the game. David Pham turned out to be a good apprentice, in poker even more than in the laundry business. Soon enough he started his own professional path. During the 1990’s, David Pham participated in many tournaments where he placed himself at the final tables. Playing with his aggressive style and dominating the games he played, David Pham would warm up every game and by so entitled himself with the nickname The Dragon. In the World Series Of Poker in 2000, David Pham got to the 4th place and the 8th place in two No Limit Hold’Em events winning $47,520 and $18,060 respectively. That same year, he won first place in two other events, playing Limit Hold’em in the American Poker Classic and No Limit Hold’em in the Orleans Open. A few more tournaments rolled David Pham on the final table streak and Card Player Magazine announced him as The Player of the Year. In 2001, David Pham won first place in the S.H.O.E. event of WSOP and collected a gold bracelet along with $140,455.He repeated these two titles later in his life: in 2006 he won the $2000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout tournament in WSOP for another gold bracelet and Card Player magazine named him player of the year again in 2007. He was named that after dominating eleven final tables along that year, two of which during the WPT and one in the WSOP. That year he won over $1,800,000. The year of 2003 was profitable as well, thanks to his first place win in the L.A. Poker Classic, adding to his pocket over $450,000. David Pham has an impressive record of money finishes throughout his career. With 20 money finishes in WSOP events, 11 money finishes in World Poker Tour and another money finis at the European Poker Tour, David Pham is ranked in 22nd place in the poker world. One of his most staggering games was the at 2008 European Poker Tour Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure where he reached the final table and 4th place out of 1136 entries. Currently, David Pham is married, has four children, and resides in Bell Gardens California. He used to own a manicure place with his wife. David Pham loves to play poker.
