David Meyler is a professional football player who was born on May 29, 1989 in Cork, the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland. He began his youth club career with the Cork City Football Club’s youth team and built his football skills in the club. Impressed with his performances and progress through the youth club’s ranking system, the Rebel Army moved David Meyler to the first team and offered him a professional contract in 2008. As a senior team player, he made three appearances for the Cork City football club in the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) eircom League, the new national football league system of the Republic of Ireland.
Owing to his good performances, the Sunderland Association Football Club took him up on July 25, 2008 for an undisclosed fee, which is believed to be range around £160,000. David Meyler is the third player, who has been signed for the summer of 2008-09 season by Roy Keane, the former Irish footballer and the manager of the Sunderland AFC. The second player, who was signed by the Black Cats, was his former team-mate, Roy O’Donovan.
