In 1989, he enrolled in Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where he majored in biology and minored in religion, graduating magna cum laude with his Bachelor of Arts in Biologic Sciences in 1993. Dr. David Melniczek distinguished himself there by receiving the Lee H. Idleman Memorial Scholarship, which provided him with full tuition all four years. He also earned the President's Award for Academic Achievement in each year he attended. After graduating, Dr. David Melniczek received another full scholarship to Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1998. During medical school, David Melniczek, MD, completed his first marathon, spent a year conducting thyroid cancer research, presented research at a national ophthalmology conference, and assisted at a homeless shelter. When Dr. David Melniczek took the American Board of Surgery’s national certifying examination, he scored in the 91st percentile. On the national residency exam, he scored in the 97th percentile. In addition, Dr. David Melniczek has authored articles on bariatric surgery published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons.

I have published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeon on surgery in the obese population. I have a consistent academic record of excellence. I scored in the top 97th percentile as a chief resident on our national exam. And achieved the top 91st percentile on the national American Board of Surgery certifying examination.I specialize in advanced laparoscopic/minimally invasive procedures. I perform laparoscopic colectomies, laparoscopic Nissen fundoplications, laparoscopic hernia repairs, laparoscopic cholecystectomies. I am offering the most cutting-edge minimally invasive procedures available. In addition, my subspecialty is minimally invasive bariatric surgery. I perform the Lap Band, Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and laparoscopic gastric bypass. In addition, I perform revisional bariatric surgeries and the Stomaphyx procedure. My bariatric program is a multidisciplinary program that includes psychological , nutrition, and exercise support and education. We have top notch specialists available to support our patients before, during and after their surgery. Our program offers monthly support groups for patients as well as special groups like walking groups and stress reduction groups for patients who feel these activities will enhance their postoperative success. Our program goal is to provide long term follow up and support to all of our patients to ensure their success.
