Living from the Heart

 

Prince Adesina Haastrup, is a documentary filmmaker, CEO and Head of Programmes at Twelvesprings Media Centre operating both in the UK and in Nigeria. His directorial debut was back in 1979, with "The Ghost of Time", a haunting reflection on Margaret Thatcher's Britain, at a time of anxieties about the swarming of the United Kingdom by people of a different culture. He later went on to teach at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

In 1982, he left his university post to join the BBC, where he worked on numerous documentary programmes until 1992 when he was commissioned by the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture to produce and direct "Africa's Quiet Revolution". The 45 minute documentary studied six of the institute's programmes on sustainable and culturally relevant solutions to modern challenges faced by traditional farming in sub-Saharan Africa.

Recent productions of Twelvesprings Studios include documentaries and television series, such as "Creative Academii", for the Cross River State Government, Nigeria, 2006, "Thank God it's Sunday", UK, 2007, "The Entrepreneur", a critically acclaimed 13 part series sponsored by Ecobank, Nigeria, 2008, "Growing Rural Businesses with ICT", a 30 minute documentary sponsored by Nigerian Communications Commision (NCC), Nigeria, 2008. We are currently researching "The Road to Agro-Commerce" a documentary film on developments within the agricultural sector in Nigeria and "Healthwatch" a health information programme for UK television viewers.

Sina, as he is known to loved ones, is married to Marion, a banker and co-founder of Twelvesprings Foundation. They are blessed with three beautiful and gifted children, Tomiwa, 15, Tofunmi, 12, Tidami, 7.
