About David Faxon

 

David Faxon - Professional Summary:     A proponent of new methods of treating heart disease and cardiovascular conditions, David Faxon practices as an expert cardiologist and hospital administrator. Having begun his clinical work in 1976, David Faxon strives to stay on the leading edge of cardiology. One innovation designed and patented by David Faxon was a catheter that facilitates the delivery of diagnostic or therapeutic agents throughout a patient’s body. 


Currently a Vice Chair of Medicine for Strategic Planning and an Attending Physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, David Faxon holds licenses from the State of Massachusetts, and the State of California. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. 

Throughout his career, David Faxon has practiced at teaching hospitals. In addition to his own patient load, he instructs medical students and guides interns and residents to ensure they receive hands-on medical training. David Faxon has treated conditions including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, myocarditis, pericarditis, and congestive heart failure. 

Active in the health care community, David Faxon has held memberships in the Chicago Cardiology Group, the Central Society for Clinical Research, and the Massachusetts Medical Society. In addition, David Faxon participates in the American Heart Association and was its President from 2001-2, the American College of Cardiology, and The Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions and was its president from 1997-8. 

With more than 350 original publications to his credit, David Faxon has reviewed articles for American Heart Journal, European Heart Journal, The New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and The American Journal of Cardiology. Moreover, David Faxon serves on the editorial boards for American Heart Journal, Journal of Interventional Cardiology, and Circulation, a journal from the American Heart Association. He is currently the Editor in Chief of Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions.
