David Cloutier made name as a poker player of exceptional skills during the WPT event, North American Poker Championships, Season 6 held in 2007. Playing in his first ever major poker tournament, David Cloutier displayed terrific poker acumen to finish in the 3rd place in a field that comprised of some of the biggest names in the professional poker world.
David Cloutier is based in Brampton, Ontario, Canada and comes from a family of card players where everyone used to play various card games such as Euchre. Before the 2007 WPT event happened for him, David Cloutier had never played outside Toronto. In fact, he took to No Limit Hold’em games just few months before the event and usually played it in many of the local underground tournaments. David Cloutier got his break through one of the $1,200 satellite tournaments where he managed to win a seat to the 2007 WPT Event. David Cloutier was among the many amateur poker players who gained entry through the satellite tournaments just like he did.
David Cloutier participated in the WPT No Limit Hold’em Championship and clawed his way right up to the last three, finishing 3rd and taking home a staggering amount of $355,021 as prize money. In an interview just before the last day of the tournament, David Cloutier attributed his unprecedented success to the fact that he always had faith in his poker abilities and played each day with the aim of surviving it. His tactics paid off as he finished in the 3rd place, ending in the money in his first poker major.
David Cloutier still remains an amateur and is not much visible on the professional poker circuit. He earns his living through his business of manufacturing consumer goods such as electric heaters, temperature sensors and other consumer electronics.
