About Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck was born on November 26, 1990 in Manchester. This English football player is truly an all-rounder playing in the forward position, while adapting himself skillfully as a winger and also a mid-fielder. Owing to his strong and swift displays, Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of the Manchester United football club (F.C), has compared Danny Welbeck to Nwankwo Kanu, a former Arsenal forward.

In the summer of 2007, Danny Welbeck made his international debut with the English youth squad, striking a goal at the Under-17 World Championship in Korea. Eventually, he was selected to play for the Under-19 European Championships in 2008.

He began his football career at the Manchester United Youth Academy in 2007. Danny Welbeck, as a schoolboy, was instrumental in his team, Manchester United Under-18’s, entry to the final of the 2006-07 Football Association (FA) Youth Cup. In the 2007-08 season, he struck 9 goals in 15 matches for the Academy. Danny Welbeck scored 7 goals in 17 games that he played for the reserve team, including a noteworthy hat-trick against Manchester City. His impressive performance earned him a place in the first-team squad that went to Saudi Arabia for a friendly against Al-Hilal. For his commendable performances, he has been awarded the ‘Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year’ for 2007-08.
