Daniel Benjamin Murphy, popularly known as Danny Murphy, is a footballer born on March 18, 1977 in Chester, England. This midfielder is married to actress Joanna Taylor and they have a daughter, Mya Eve Murphy, and a son, Ashleigh Daniel Murphy.
Danny Murphy began his international career with England’s Under-21 team and has made a total of five appearances for the team. In 2001, he progressed to the senior national team and has featured in nine games for it.
Danny Murphy started his football career as a trainee at the Crewe Alexandra Football Club (FC) and under the tutelage of its manager and technical director Dario Gradi, football of Crewe Alexandra he equipped himself with skills to play at the Premiership level. During the summer of 1997, he signed with Liverpool for £2million, but came back to Crewe on loan in the second half of 1998-99 season. After his successful stint with Crewe, Danny Murphy rejoined Liverpool and started playing in the first team. He became famous for scoring the winning goals against Manchester United at Old Trafford, a feat that he accomplished during 2000-01, 2001-02, and 2003-04. With Liverpool, Danny Murphy has won seven trophies including the Football Association (FA) Cup and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup in 2001, as well as the Football League Cup twice in 2001 and 2003.
Danny Murphy switched over to Charlton Athletic signing a four-year contract in August 2004 for a transfer fee of £2.5million. His impressive performance towards the end of the 2005-06 season won him the Player of the Month award for September.
At the end of his stint with Charlton, Danny Murphy was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur on January 31, 2006 for a fee of £2 million. Danny Murphy netted his first goal for Tottenham after 39 seconds in its 2-1 win over Portsmouth on October 1, 2006. In a clash against Newcastle United, his second goal for Tottenham came in the form of a scissors kick that hit the face of Steven Taylor and went straight into the net.
On August 31, 2007, Fulham signed Danny Murphy for an undisclosed fee. He was a regular starter for the club and appeared in 33 matches, scoring 5 goals, which includes a rare header, which helped Fulham remain in the Premier League. Danny Murphy extended his stay at Fulham for one more year and has been made the captain of the team for the 2008-09 season.
