Dana Swalla - Professional Summary: Following a 20-year career in the field of mechanical engineering, Dana Swalla of Schenectady, New York, launched Moment Consulting, Inc. in 2009. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Dana Swalla leads a team in researching renewable energy sources such as wind power to assist companies and communities in reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. For six years prior to launching Moment Consulting, Inc., Dana Swalla worked for GE Global Research in Niskayuna, New York. In her role as GEMx Battery Technologies’ Technical Program Leader, Swalla helmed the design and manufacture process of GEMx sodium batteries. Dana Swalla also served as Project Leader and Principal Investigator for a US Department of Energy funded Hydrogen Electrolyzer program to develop a cost-effective alkaline electrolysis module. For the GE Wind Turbine Program, Swalla lent her expertise in collaborating on a gearbox design and analyzing markets for the turbine. She also contributed to GE’s Concentrated Solar Power Feasibility Study. Dana Swalla is a member of the Schenectady Energy Advisory Board; The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society; the American Society of Mechanical Engineers; and the Project Management Institute, Inc. Swalla graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was a recipient of the National ASHRAE Scholarship, W.A. Godron Scholarship, John B. Boy/United States Sugar Corp. Endowed Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering, and Florida Power Corporation Van Dorn Scholarship, was honored as a Tau Beta Pi "Outstanding Electee,” and was inducted into the EML 3100 Thermodynamics "Hall of Fame." Swalla went on to earn her PhD with a Major in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
