Cory Carroll, Canadian poker professional from Dartmouth, NS, has been playing for a number of years. Cory Carroll caught the attention of the poker world when he won the World Series of Poker Circuit event at Caesar’s Palace in 2007.


In November 2005, Cory Carroll finished 13th in Event #2 – No-Limit Hold’em at the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic/World Poker Tournament (WPT) Event Season 4 and bagged $4,810. In the same tournament, his consistent performance got him 4th place and $38,325 at Event #8 – No-Limit Hold’em in December 2005.


2007 turned out to be a glorious year for Cory Carroll for he finished 5th and earned $12,912 at the Foxwoods Poker Classic/WPT Event Season V – Shootout – No-Limit Hold’em (Event 1) in March. At the Caesars Las Vegas Poker Tournament – World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Event #9 - WSOP Circuit No-Limit Hold’em Championship in May 2007, he walked away with the first place outlasting more than 336 players and that includes famous professionals like Greg Raymer, Chris Jesus Ferguson, Scotty Nguyen, Erick Lindgren Barry Greenstein, David Williams, Max Pescatori, and two-time Circuit Event winner Peter “Nordberg” Feldman. Cory Carroll was the chip leader at the final table which began on Wednesday, played an amazing game and caught the attention of the poker world. The final match went on for three days and though Cory Carroll was confident, he lost the first toss that brought him down to 800 in chips on the first day. This did not dampen his spirits for he continued to play his usual game and won the second toss. His dedicated and smart play outwitted fellow professionals, Chad Brown, David “The Dragon” Pham, Steve Wong, Vasile Buboi, Paul Kitsos, Justin Pechie, Eric Davis, and Michelle Law and won him an awesome $505,176.


Another of his best performance did not win him the first place but Cory Carroll came second in the Mirage Poker Showdown WPT Event Season 6 Event #10 – WPT No-Limit Hold’em Championship and won $561,966 as prize money. The 38th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #55 – WSOP No-Limit Hold’em Championship was not very successful for Cory Carroll, but he still made $67,535 for his 91st finish in July 2007. Cory Carroll secured 17th place at the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic WPT Season 6 No-Limit Hold’em and earned $4,330. In the same tournament, he took away $14,960 for his 8th place in No-Limit Hold’em game which was held on December 5, 2007.


At the Five Star World Classic Poker Classic WPT World Championship Season 6/WPT No-Limit Hold’em Championship (Event #15), Cory Carroll played a wonderful game that got him 4th place, and he also walked away with an awesome $593,645 in April 2008.

His exceptional style of playing is admired by Gavin Smith, fellow Canadian poker professional while Shane “Shaniac” Schleger, an American poker professional, thinks that Cory Carroll is one of the best players but did not receive due attention till he won the WSOP Circuit event at Caesar's Palace.
