Linwood Ferguson is an exceptionally gifted veteran athletic coach, with more than 30 years of continuous experience. Coach Linwood Ferguson worked most recently as Eastern Kentucky University’s head football coach and offensive coordinator for the Colonels.

Before that, Coach Linwood Ferguson served as Howard University’s offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. The Bisons finished 4-4 in MEAC action in 2006 and ranked third in the conference in rushing yards per game (184.8). Linwood Ferguson has also been the offensive coordinator at North Carolina Central (2003) and North Carolina A&T (2002).

From 1999 to 2001, Coach Linwood Ferguson helped revitalize the football program at Division II Midwestern State University, where he served three years as head coach. There, Linwood Ferguson helped lead the Mustangs to the 2001 Lone Star Conference Divisional championship with a 7-4 record. Linwood Ferguson’s MSU teams set school or Lone Star Conference season records in nine categories, including total offense, points scored, pass offense and touchdowns scored. Two NFL signees came out of the Midwestern State University program under Linwood Ferguson – running back Dominic Rhodes and wide receiver Bryan Gilmore.

Coach Linwood Ferguson has spent time on the defensive side of the ball as well, including coordinator stints at Murray State (1997-98) and Southern Illinois universities (1994-96). While at Murray, Linwood Ferguson saw the Racer defense rank first in the OVC and second nationally in total defense, in 1997. In 1980 and 1981, Coach Linwood Ferguson was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the back-to-back NAIA national champions, Elon College, in Elon, N.C.

Eastern Kentucky finished the 2006 campaign with four straight wins, finishing 6-5 overall, and tied for fourth in the OVC with a 5-3 record.

Coach Linwood Ferguson has excelled as a training instructor, coach, and recruiter in many colleges and universities, including Chowan University, Murfreesboro, N.C.; Southern Illinois University, Carbondale; and North Carolina Central University, Durham N.C, East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C.

Coach Linwood Ferguson has coached and recruited more than 40 NFL players in his professional career. Linwood Ferguson lives in Greensboro, N.C.
