About Clay Keith

Clay Keith’s exemplary leadership in the independent film industry was recognized in 2001, when he was selected to serve as an Honorary Ambassador for the City of Birmingham at the Cannes Film Market and Film Festival in Cannes, France. Fluent in French, Clay Keith was one of three individuals selected to represent the city’s interest in the film industry and growing the entertainment business in the Birmingham area.

A resolution signed by the Mayor acknowledged Keith’s leadership in film production, documentaries, public service, and other media in association with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). While at the film festival, Clay Keith spent time at the American Pavilion, a communication and hospitality center for Americans attending the Cannes Film Festival and a place to network with thousands of industry professionals from around the world. An alumnus of The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Clay Keith majored in public relations and marketing. He joined Delta Kappa Epsilon, a premier fraternity originally established at Yale.

During this time, Keith studied abroad, where he experienced other cultures, including the cuisine and entertainment. In particular, Keith indulged his love of live music, a passion that has crossed over into his professional career. After returning to Alabama, Clay Keith pursued his interest in the entertainment industry, volunteering his professional public relations and marketing skills to the Alabama Moving Image Association, Inc. and its Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival.

While serving as Vice President of Development and Line Producer for Remy Productions, Clay Keith oversaw production of 35mm film projects and held responsibilities for pre- and post-production; he also marketed these films to festivals around the globe. Keith also worked as Marketing and Sponsorship Coordinator for Clear Channel Entertainment’s Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, creating and promoting concert campaigns. Clay Keith maintained membership in the Association of Independent Video & Filmmakers (AIVF) until the organization closed in 2007. His interests beyond the entertainment industry include protecting the environment.

Keith has worked with charities such as Hands across the Sand, The Trust for Public Land, the Rain Forest Alliance, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In his free time, Clay Keith enjoys cooking. His culinary pursuits include primarily French and American Southern dishes, but he has also experimented with Asian and Latin cuisine. Many of the dishes Keith has prepared he has learned through extensive travels in Europe, North Africa, and Central America, as well as across the United States.
