Claudio Pizarro is a Peruvian professional football forward, who was born on October 3, 1978 in Callao. His love for the sport came about during his school days where he spent hours at the training sessions and trips as part of the U-17 national team. Claudio Pizarro is married to his childhood sweetheart Karla Salcedo and has a son named Claudio. Credited to an array of nicknames such as "El Bombardero de los Andes", "El Comandante", "El Dios Inca", "Pizza” and "Incakaiser", he is known to be a sociable person. He is also called “Bomber” and “Inca God” by the media.


Claudio Pizarro earned his first national cap for Peru in 1999 and won the runners-up scorer of South American Pre-Olympics in 2000, for his 5 goals. He was part of the Peru national football squad at the Copa America in 1999 and 2004, and scored twice against Bolivia at the Copa America in 2007.


Claudio Pizarro started his football career at the age of 17 with Deportivo Pesquero, a small provincial team in the north of Peru. He was sold to Alianza Lima, a Peruvian top division club, with whom he made his top-flight debut. Scoring 25 goals in two seasons, he was part of the winning team at the Torneo Clausura of Peru in 1999. He was awarded the ‘Sportsman of the Year’ in Football category by Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) in 1999.


Claudio Pizarro joined Werder Bremen, a German Bundesliga club for which he made 29 crucial goals in 2 seasons. He was part of the runners-up team in 1999-00 Germany Cup, when his team made to the quarterfinals of the UEFA cup that year. Sport 1 and Kicker, a magazine, announced him as a ‘Member of the ideal team of 2000-01 Bundesliga’.


Claudio Pizarro signed Bayern Munich F.C., a German sports club on June 7, 2001 and was at the victory stands of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup that year. He scored his first goal for the club in the 4th minute of the game against Schalke 04, a German football club in 2001 and his debut performance won him "The Play of the Month" – February. Claudio Pizarro played a vital role for Bayern Munich F.C during the 2002-03 season in the club’s double win in the Bundesliga and the German Cup. For two consecutive season, 2004-05 and 2005-06, his team embraced victory in the Bundesliga and the German Cup tournaments.
Claudio Pizarro became the first Peruvian to sign on Chelsea F.C., in July 2007 on a Bosman Transfer, a ruling owing to the transfer of football players within the European Union (EU), until June 2011. In his first appearance for the club, he scored at the opening weekend of the 07-08 English Premier League. He helped Chelsea to progress to the 4th round of the FA Cup 2008 by contributing to the goal which rebounded off Lee Camp, keeper of Queens Park Rangers F.C. In August 2008, Claudio Pizarro was loaned to SV Werder Bremen, a German sports club, until the end of the season.


Besides spending time with his wife and son, he enjoys playing golf and watching comedy series on TV. Claudio Pizarro is also fond of solving crossword puzzles with his wife.
