Award-winning author Christopher Zoukis is a member of the PEN American Center. At the 2011 PEN American Center Prison Writing Awards, Christopher Zoukis placed second in the drama category for his play, titled Healing Bin Laden. Christopher Zoukis also received an honorable mention in the fiction category for the short story "Jesusland."
A prison education advocate, Christopher Zoukis has used his writing abilities to draw media attention to the need for improved education systems for prisoners. He authored a book to be published by Sunbury Press, Inc., titled Education Behind Bars, and he is the editor of the newsletter of the same name. Christopher Zoukis also produces content for www.prisoneducation.com.
Aside from his prison education efforts, Christopher Zoukis has written several published poems. Three of his poems appeared in The Prison Journal, namely "God, Who Cares?," "My Name Is Chris," and "A Kid or a Man." His poem "Zeke" was featured on Google News, HighBeam Research, and Basil & Spice. Zoukis is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Writers Union, and the Correctional Education Association.
Christopher Zoukis teaches the Writing and Publishing course for the Petersburg Education Department, a course that he created specifically to help other prisoners further their writing abilities while incarcerated.
