About Christine Stanton Petersent

Christine Stanton Petersen - Professional Summary:

Christine Stanton Petersen, MS, CCC-SLP, owns and operates a private practice specializing in the treatment of speech-language and social cognition disorders. Located in the Irvine area of California since 1996, her practice centers primarily on children with high-functioning autism, Asperger’s syndrome, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and anxiety disorders. Christine Stanton Petersen consults with local schools, bringing her Circle of Friends treatment modality to their special education programs in an effort to promote the inclusion of, and interaction with, children suffering from socialization deficiencies, immature play skill development, and language delays. Circle of Friends focuses on establishing social groups among children to promote significant positive impacts upon youth affected by speech or cognitive disorders. Christine Stanton Petersen’s practice is not limited to children and teens, however. She has organized and manages support groups for caregivers and teachers of her focus demographic, in addition to those of adult and elderly patients suffering from devastating cognitive and social effects of stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Asperger’s syndrome, and other types of cognitive and speech-language impairment.

While completing her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Communicative Disorders from the University of Redlands, Christine Stanton Petersen served as Graduate Clinical Assistant at the University’s Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders. During her yearlong clinical fellowship as an Associate Speech-Language Pathologist for Sharon Wilcox & Associates, she gained valuable hands-on experience in the therapeutic management of communicative and cognitive disorders, including dysphasia, dyspraxia, selective mutism, neonatal stroke, bipolar disorder, and Landau-Kleffener syndrome. Christine Stanton Petersen is a longstanding member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
