About Chris Robine
Chris Robine has 14 years of experience working for General Electric, with roles as a member of the Corporate Audit Staff, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Finance Manager, and CFO of Renewable Energy. Currently the President and CEO of SPG Solar, Inc., a leader in solar panel design and installation, Chris Robine is committed to increasing the prevalence of solar energy production for commercial and industrial businesses. SPG Solar offers ground-mounted, and rooftop solar systems, as well as the groundbreaking Floatovoltaics system, which allows the solar panels to be suspended on water.
Chris Robine’s background in finance and his understanding of renewable energy sources make him an important and respected figure in the growing world of solar energy investment. As Robine puts it, “The jobs created from this investment are well-paying jobs that cannot be outsourced. And the output from these jobs is a cleaner domestic electricity supply that keeps our energy dollars local, serves as a hedge against rising fossil fuel costs, and drives down the cost of clean energy.” Due as much to their hard work and innovative concepts as the increasing demand for solar energy, SPG Solar and Chris Robine have been in the news with increasing regularity in recent years, and they continue to create some of the largest and most innovative solar panel systems in the country.
The Floatovoltaics systems were designed with commercial and industrial companies in mind that were interested in solar power, but did not have large amounts of space to dedicate to the panels. The earliest versions of the system were installed in a pair of California vineyards, whose owners were reluctant to clear out plants for solar panels, but had ponds available for space. Spurred by the success of those installations, Chris Robine and SPG Solar quickly set about making a more affordable and effective version of the Floatovoltaics system, intending to appeal to what they perceive as a growing market, both in the U.S. and abroad. In 2011, Chris Robine also oversaw the installation of one of California’s largest solar panel systems, designed and built by SPG Solar.
