About Chris McCormack

Chris McCormack, aka "Mac" or "C-Mac", was born in Long Island, New York, on September 10th, 1979. He started playing poker as an amateur in 1995, when he was 16 years old, with his friends. After graduating from high school Chris McCormack moved to Miami, Florida, and started working in sport management as an account executive for Miami Heat basketball team. Even as he was working and making progress in the field of sports management, Chris McCormack continued playing poker on his spare time, and as he won various games and tournament, he built a bankroll and later used it to make his way into bigger poker tournaments.

His first cash winning in a professional live poker tournament was on June 2nd, 2001, as Chris McCormack won the 11th place in the No Limit Hold'em of the Summer Pot of Gold. The "grand winning" consisted of $245. That's it. Perhaps that was what caused Chris McCormack to take such a long break from the poker world, and perhaps it was something else. The only sure thing is that on November 17th, 2004, Chris McCormack reappeared in the poker ring, taking the 7th place in the World Poker Finals of the WPT Season 3, in the WPT main event of No Limit Hold'em, along with a respectable cash winning of $235,226, and so far it looks like he's here to stay.

Ever since 2005, Chris McCormack seems to be a regular participant in both WSOP and WPT events. During the last years he won the 1st place of three tournaments, only the most recent of which is a WPT event – the No Limit Hold'em tournament of the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic. The two 1st places Chris McCormack won prior to the grand winning in the WPT were two Bellagio events that took place on March 31st, 2006, and on May 6th, 2006, but none of these winnings could ever compare to winning a WPT Championship, can it?

Chris McCormack likes to play No Limit Hold'em. That's a sure fact, and looking at his stats one can see it quite clearly. So far all his major winnings (and most of the minor ones as well) were in No Limit Hold'em tournaments, and a part of a few Limit Hold'em games there seems to be no change in that course during the years. As some players prefer learning new poker styles and participate in more than single-style tournaments, Chris McCormack sticks to what he likes and what he's good at, and it looks like the efforts are paying off.

When he doesn't travel and participate in poker tournaments, Chris McCormack resides in Syosset, New York. On his spare time Chris McCormack likes to play golf, go to the beach, work out – "being active", as he calls it – and spin records in the pub. He likes almost any kind of music one can think of, and enjoys listening to it. His favorite movie is he "Goodfellas" and his favorite place in the world is the Caribbean. Outside the poker table, the celebrity that Chris McCormack favors is Jimmy Buffett, but when it comes to the poker world he respects many of his colleagues: Robert Mizrachi, JC Tran, Michael "the grinder" Mizrachi, Frank Sinopoli and John Phan are only some of the professional poker players Chris McCormack respects the most. And one last tip for the interested ones – yes, he's still single.
