Chris Brunt is an international football midfielder, who was born on December 14, 1984 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He attended the Newtownbreda Primary School before graduating from Wellington College in Belfast. He and his partner Cathy have a baby boy, Charlie, born on May 1, 2008. Chris Brunt started playing for Northern Ireland in 2004 and between 2005 and 2006, he had played two games for Northern Ireland’s Under-21side and had scored one goal.
Chris Brunt started his career with the St. Andrews Football Club (FC) youth team and on August 1, 2002, he moved to Middlesbrough as a trainee. Later in 2004, he joined Sheffield Wednesday, initially on a short-term deal and soon signed a two-year contract. In the 2004-05 season, he scored 5 goals and helped his team get promoted to the Championship. In July 2005 Chris Brunt signed a one-year extension to his existing contract. He finished as the club’s top goalscorer with seven goals in the 2006-07 season. , He played his 100th game for Sheffield Wednesday in the following season and became the club’s most experienced player. For his performance that season, Chris Brunt was voted the Sheffield Wednesday’s Best Player of the Season in the Vital Football website, with 45% of votes besides winning the Player of the Month award six times. On August 14, 2007, Chris Brunt joined West Bromwich Albion on a four-year deal and made his debut for the club on September 1, 2007 as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 win over Barnsley. Chris Brunt scored his first goal for West Bromwich Albion on September 22, 2007, against Scunthorpe United to help his team win the match by a 3-2 score line. He earned a place in the Championship Team of the Week for his performance in the 3-0 victory against Plymouth Argyle on March 1, 2008. On April 28, 2008, Chris Brunt scored a late equaliser against Southampton to secure his club’s promotion to the Premier League on the virtue of goal difference. He scored again in the 2-0 win over Queen Park Rangers that saw the club’s automatic promotion to Premier League.
