About Chris Bjorin


Chris Bjorin is a Swedish born poker player who is currently living in London, U.K. He is known for being shy and stays away from the media. He has a son named Elon who is also fascinated with poker, but rather than spoon-feed his son, he feels that Elon must learn it all by himself. Chris Bjorin began participating in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) events in the 1980s and has since won two gold bracelets.


In the 1997 WSOP, he struck gold for the first time when he won the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha in first place and earned $169,200. He demonstrated his skill in poker once again during the 2000 WSOP, when he came first in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em event and won prize money worth $334,110. He also finished first in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event during the 1992 and 2001 WSOP tournaments. Chris Bjorin was the only non-American player to compete with American poker pros in the 2002 $5,000 Hall of Fame Poker Classic Championship. He had three wins in different events during this tournament and made seven final table appearances in the No-limit Hold'em events.


In 2003, at the Los Angeles Poker Classic, Chris Bjorin came third in the Pot-Limit Omaha event and won $15,960. Later that year, he finished in first place in the Pot-Limit Omaha event of the British Open tournament and added $53,785 to his bankroll. He also participated in the Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event of the World Poker Challenge and came second to take home $3,395 in prize money.


In 2004, Chris Bjorin ranked third in the Limit Deuce to Seven Lowball, a 5th Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open (WPO) event, and won $11,218. In the same tournament, he earned another $17,096 in the Limit Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event. In 2005, Chris Bjorin took home $45,000 and ranked fourth in the PPT No Limit Hold’em $50,000 Freeroll event. In December 2005, he outlasted all participants of the No Limit Hold’em event in the Trump Classic tournament and finished in third place. He also participated in Event 14 of the same tournament and won $21,500.


Chris Bjorin made a whopping $174,880 by finishing first at the No-Limit Hold’em event of the Five Star World Poker Classic, a WPT Championship Season 4 tournament held in April 2006. He also won the No-Limit Hold’em event at the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic, WPT and pocketed $152,445.
In February 2007, he bagged $39,285 by ranking third in the No-Limit Hold’em event at the WPT’s L.A. Poker Classic. Chris Bjorin then participated in the No-Limit Hold’em event at the 38th WSOP tournament and finished in fourth place to make $129,691.


His victories continued in the year 2008 as well. He earned $39,750 with his third-place finish in the No-Limit Hold'em event of the LA Poker Classic, WPT Event Season 6. As of 2008, Chris Bjorin has made $3,800,000 through his live tournament winnings.


He was awarded the “Nice Guy” title in the 2002 Player of the Year review in Card Player Magazine. Other than playing poker, Chris Bjorin enjoys passing his time by betting on sports games.
