About Chip Bierbaum
Currently a founder and Senior Analyst at Medi-Sights in New York City, Chip Bierbaum began his career in the financial industry with The Bear Stearns Companies, Inc. Subsequent to earning a Bachelor's degree from Trinity College and spending three months as a Leasing Associate with The LeFrak Organization, Bierbaum took on the role of Trading Associate with the investment bank. For the next three years, he learned about the field before becoming a Junior Trader and Analyst with Bear Stearns High-Grade Structured Credit Strategies Master Fund Ltd. During this period, Chip Bierbaum gained experience by assisting several desks working with municipal bond trading, hedge fund analysis, and institutional equity. His additional responsibilities included analyzing Bear Stearns Asset Management Inc.'s internal hedge fund, trading credit default swaptions and relative values across single-name credit default swap (CDS) and CDS indices, and developing strategies for equity volatility and credit index arbitrage. In 2007, Chip Bierbaum transferred to Calyon Securities (USA) Inc. as a Senior Associate, where he remained for several months before enrolling at Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management as a Master of Business Administration candidate focusing on Finance and Health Care.
At Vanderbilt University, Chip Bierbaum received recognition for his business acumen by obtaining two scholarships and participating in a business competition team that won second place in an eight-school-wide contest. Local venture capital and private equity firms also recognized Bierbaum's achievements, as Faultline Ventures offered him an internship and New Capital Partners a Summer Associate position.
With expertise in venture capital and its effects on the health care industry, Chip Bierbaum formed Medi-Sights in 2010. By offering bespoke investment research, corporate analysis and valuations, and business models in health care distribution, Chip Bierbaum has performed work for clients such as EFG Corporation and Barclays Capital. When not working, Bierbaum enjoys spending time with his wife, creating gourmet foods, skiing, and reading Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina and Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment.
