Charles Schoch has been working in the biotech industry since 2006. He began his career with Codon Devices, Inc., which was based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Codon Devices sought to use synthetic biology in commercial applications, such as engineering cells to create innovative pharmaceuticals, and developing advanced vaccines, agricultural products, and biorefinery processes. In the position of Manager of Labs, Facilities, and Purchasing, Charles Schoch took on numerous responsibilities. They included the implementation and maintenance of accounting and financial systems; the management of inventory, shipping, and customer service; and product research. Charles Schoch reported to the Senior Vice President of Technical Operations, often aiding in the preparation of technical documents and presentations for investors. He also helped with the creation of the company’s advanced BIOFAB laboratory.
Charles Schoch then started his own company, Biops LLC. Biops provided consultation and startup services to a number of biotech companies such as Foundation Medicine, BlueBird Bio, Constellation Pharmaceuticals, and Eleven Biotherapeutics. As the lead financial and operational consultant, Charles Schoch worked with companies in a number of capacities. He established financial systems capable of managing multi-million dollar budgets while reporting financial situations to each company’s senior executives. He organized purchasing and procurement. He negotiated pricing for supplies and equipment, often attaining savings through the formation of collective purchasing agreements.
Before launching his career, Mr. Schoch received his Bachelor of Science from Elon University, from which he graduated cum laude. He enjoys travel, and is also an outdoorsman who enjoys hiking and skiing, and such sports as football and basketball.
