About Charles Saulson

Charles Saulson - Professional Summary:    A graduate of Bard College, where he earned a degree in Art and Literature, New York developer Charles Saulson also studied Architecture at the city’s Institute of Architecture and Urban Studies. Known primarily these days for his work on hotels and residential property in Lower Manhattan, his career didn’t begin this way. Charles Saulson started out as a sculptor before changing direction in order to better equip himself to handle the special needs of his son, Ben, in 1990.

In 1987, Charles Saulson founded and began running Molten Metals, a metalworks company that fabricated steel for construction, art, and other uses. Within a few years, he added a few employees, and by the time Molten Metals closed nearly two decades later, he had more than 80 people working with him. As founder and President, Mr. Saulson oversaw the daily operation of his company, including the hiring of personnel, managing of finances, planning of projects, steel fabrication, and metal installation.

In the early 2000s, Mr. Saulson and Molten Metals worked on the construction of the Hotel on Rivington, a state-of-the-art and now well-known 22-story property on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Mr. Saulson’s company constructed and installed all of the stairs, balconies, and railings and footings in the building during two years of work.

From 2002 through 2006, Charles Saulson served as a founder and partner at Bowery Boyz LLC, a company that helped develop a building at 195 Bowery in Lower Manhattan. After that, Mr. Saulson spent five years as a Managing Member at 6 East First Street, LLC, where he helped organize, design, and finance the renovation and sale of luxury apartments.

Outside of his work, Charles Saulson supports Soka Gakkai International, a Buddhist organization that spreads peace and cultural understanding, and The Retreat, an organization providing services for victims of domestic violence. In his free time, he still enjoys sculpting and nourishing his artistic roots.
