About Charles Ramm
A graduate of California State Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Charles Ramm employs a comprehensive understanding of architecture, design, and function to produce positive results for his clients. In his capacity as an Architect to several well-known restaurant brands in the United States, such as Marie Callender’s Restaurant & Bakery, Chevy's Fresh Mex, Applebee’s, and Carl’s Jr., Charles Ramm utilizes his skills and artistic capabilities that meld purpose with a pleasant atmosphere finely tuned to each company's corporate brand. Via his firm, Charles Ramm Associates, he creates drawings and plans that allow ease of construction, as well as the best use of space for each building site.
Although he works extensively with larger companies, Charles Ramm also provides extensive guidance to clients who own individual facilities, ranging from upscale pizza restaurants to fine dining establishments. Some of the recent projects completed by Charles Ramm Associates include two of the most popular restaurants in Orange County: Nick’s San Clemente and Ecco Osteria in Costa Mesa. Nick’s San Clemente, which offers a distinctive California style rich with warm woods, stone, and beautiful lighting, won acclaim as one of the best new restaurants in the area from Orange Coast magazine. Nick’s has just retained Charles Ramm to build two additional restaurants for the company. Furthermore, Orange Coast magazine gave accolades to Ecco Osteria, which Charles Ramm designed, as well. For Ecco, Charles Ramm Associates as Architect created a facility comprising minimalist décor and a wood-burning stove. Critics who reviewed the restaurants pointed out the appealing interiors and praised the food at both establishments.
Despite his busy schedule, Charles Ramm plays an active role at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in San Clemente, singing in the choir and regularly attending events. He supports such charities as Nothing But Nets, Operation USA, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Red Cross. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, wine, travel, and photography. He also makes time for reading books by his favorite authors, including John Le Carre, Dominick Dunne, and Nick Bantock.
