Charles Field Marsham

Charles Field-Marsham is a Canadian entrepreneur with extensive experience in financial advisory and corporate restructuring work and in starting and operating successful businesses accumulated over 23 years.

 

He started his first successful business, Advantage Clothing, in Canada at age 19 whilst a student at Mc Gill University. In 1991 he joined investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston in New York where he gained experience with emerging markets. In 1995 he founded and remains Chairman of Kestrel Capital which is now the largest investment bank and broker in Kenya. In 1996, he founded and remains Executive Chairman of the Panafrican Group, which started out as the exclusive distributor for Komatsu equipment in Kenya and now has distribution rights and operations in six countries across East and West Africa. In 1997, he purchased and remains Chairman of Kenya Fluorspar Company, a fluorspar mine. In 2007 he founded and remains President of Kestrel Capital Management Corp., based in Toronto, which provides strategic, investment and management consulting services.

 

He is engaged in the not for profit sector where, he sits on the board of Healthy Kids International (the international arm of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (SickKids) and on the board of The African Medical Research Foundation Canada (AMREF). He is a founding donor and member of the steering committee for University of Toronto's The Next 36 entrepreneurship program. He served on the board of SMARTRISK.

 

He is the benefactor of and sits on the board of the Kenya Scholar Athlete Program (KenSap) which, since 2004, has helped secure full scholarships for over 60 Kenyan students at elite universities in the United States, which include Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Brown, Penn, Cornell, MIT etc.
