Cesar Sanchez is a Spanish goalkeeper, who was born on September 2, 1971 in Coria. He represented the Spain national football team in his first and only match on August 16, 2000 against Germany, in Hannover.
Cesar Sanchez started his career in football by joining the youth ranks at Real Valladolid in 199. After honing his football skills at the youth club, he progressed to debut as a first team member at the end of the 1991-92 season, in a match against Football Club (FC) Barcelona. During his stint with Real Valladolid, he featured in 206 games, missing only four league games between 1995 and 1999.
Cesar Sanchez signed with Real Madrid, La Liga giants, in 2000 as a reserve goalkeeper and progressed to become the first-choice. During the 2001-02 season, he was in the starting line-up in five out of the nine matches at the Champions League. Though he was substituted by Iker Casillas in the finals of the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen, he went on to win a Champions League winners' medal. Cesar Sanchez was instrumental in the club’s triumph at the Spanish League Cup and the Spanish Supercup twice (2001 and 2003). He also contributed to Real Madrid’s victory of the 2002 Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League, 2002 Intercontinental Cup and the 2002 European Supercup.
After playing 20 matches for Real Madrid, Cesar Sanchez signed for Real Zaragoza and was a part of the starting team during his three-year tenure with the club. Following his 110 matches for Real Zaragoza, Tottenham Hotspur acquired the services of Cesar Sanchez by signing him in the beginning of the 2008-09 season.
