About Carl Dickinson


Carl Dickinson is a professional football defender, who was born on March 31, 1987 in Swadlincote, England. He studied in the local William Allitt School from 1998 to 2003, and during that period, he was a vital player in the school football team. Carl Dickinson started his professional career from Derby County’s academy and in 2002, he moved to the academy of Stoke City. He made his first-team debut for Stoke City on April 1, 2004 against Sheffield United, in which he earned ‘Man of the Match’ nomination. Two days later, he was awarded a professional contract by the club.


Carl Dickinson made five appearances for Stoke City in the 2005-06 season, and on October 20, 2006 he joined Blackpool on a one month loan period. Later the loan period was extended to three months lasting till November 23 and by the end of it, Carl Dickinson had played 10 games for Blackpool. For his commendable performances for Blackpool, he won the club’s ‘Young Player of the Season’ award alongside Martin Paterson. He returned to Stoke City, and since then he was impressive with his performances at left-back and soon became fan’s favourite. In the 2007-08 season, Carl Dickinson made 29 appearances for the club.
