About Bruce Maag
A licensed counselor and social worker, Bruce Maag has devoted his career to helping at-risk and foster youths throughout the country. Based in Ohio, Bruce Maag has founded several treatment foster care programs, including the International Phoenix Group, which he currently runs. Bruce Maag also served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of Specialized Alternative for Families and Youth of America, Inc. (SAFY), the National Institute of Alterative Care Professionals (NIFACP), and Human Service Professions (HSP).
Bruce Maag founded the International Phoenix Group in 2000, inspired by his wife's memory, who had died the previous year after battling leukemia. The International Phoenix Group provides services to young people who have experienced exceptional trauma, leading to emotional disturbance, as well as those that are underprivileged. In six years, Bruce Maag has led the International Phoenix Group to set up offices in three states and provide help to more than 325 youths every day.
In addition to his professional dedication to fostering children and teenagers, Bruce Maag remains a member of the National Foster Parent Association, having taken several children into his own home over the years. Bruce Maag also served as the fifth President of the North American Foster Family Board Treatment Association. Over the course of his career, Bruce Maag has garnered recognitions from numerous organizations, including the Ohio Association of Child Caring Agencies, which named Maag one of the 1984 Outstanding Child Advocates for Ohio. With Bruce Maag at the helm, the International Phoenix Group has also been named one of the outstanding new businesses in Allen County, Ohio in 2006. Later that year, Inc. Magazine recognized the International Phoenix Group as one of the 500 fastest growing companies.
Bruce Maag holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Dayton. In his 40-year career, Bruce Maag has furthered his training with more than 500 combined hours of attendance at local, state, and national conferences and seminars.
