About Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson, nicknamed “Rookie”, is one of the few professional poker players to compete in tournaments around the world. A World Series of Poker bracelet winner, Wilson is known for being fiercely competitive and has a reputation for being talkative at the poker table. It was during a trip to Estonia when the Florida native met fellow pro player Dave Colclough, whom he considers his friend and mentor.

On the poker scene for the past six years, Brian Wilson’s first major tournament cash was a 2nd place finish in the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em event at the Plaza World Poker Classic, Las Vegas in April 2005. With 36 entrants in all and $66,240 to play for, Wilson’s runner-up performance earned him $16,560.

Brian Wilson had a good outing at the Palms No Limit Hold'em Summer Poker Series in Las Vegas in May 2006, where he competed in two $200 No Limit Hold'em events. While he finished runner-up to Keith Quilty in one event, he won the other, leaving The Palms close to $9,000 richer.

Wilson made the headlines in June 2005 when he produced the best performance of his career yet at the 36th World Series of Poker. Competing in the $5,000 Pot Limit Hold'em event with 238 entrants and a $1,123,300 prize pool at stake, Brian Wilson played a near flawless game to make the final table and eventually take the win, earning him a cool $370,685 and his first World Series of Poker bracelet.

Wilson scored another major cash in at the 888.com Pacific Poker Open in Maidstone in October 2005. In the final, he finished runner-up to Englishman Ian Frazer, but did enough to take home a handsome $150,000.

Brian Wilson returned to the World Series of Poker playing in the 37th edition in July 2006 but he failed to repeat his 2005 exploits. In the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event, Wilson finished 47th out of 622 entrants and took home $7,309 for his efforts. In November 2006, Wilson travelled north to Canada, where a 7th place finish in the C$2,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event at the British Columbia Poker Championships helped him secure $54,040 in earnings.

In July 2007, Wilson entered the C$500 No Limit Hold'em event at the The Boulevard 500 Poker Series in Coquitlam, Canada, where a 2nd place finish earned him $10,516. He returned to Canada in May 2008 for the 2008 Coast to Coast Poker Championship in Richmond. Competing in the C$2,800 No Limit Hold'em Main Event, Wilson finished 13th, taking home $7,059 in earnings.
