Internationally recognized for his work in the field of surgical ophthalmology, Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler has dedicated his career to serving clients with excellence and compassion. Located in Beverly Hills, California, he currently serves at the helm of the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute, a surgical eyesight correction center he established in 2002. At this premier facility, he fills the role of Medical Director and treats patients in need of a range of surgical procedures, including refractive surgery, I-BRITE Eye Whitening, natural lens replacement, and Visian ICL. Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he has lectured widely and is the author of the LASIK Consumer Report. Currently on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he previously served as Director of the UCLA Laser Refractive Center.
In observance of his many professional accomplishments, Dr. Boxer Wachler has received professional honors such as the Faculty Award of the Joint Commission of Allied Health Professionals in Ophthalmology and the Gold Medal Award for Career Scientific Contributions of the Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive Surgery Society. In 2005, the United States Army and Department of Defense presented him with a U.S. flag, in recognition of his work as a mentor and teacher of military ophthalmologists. More recently, the 2010 Vision Awards gave him the Jules Stein Living Tribute Award, to acknowledge his use of C3-R treatments on U.S. Olympic gold medalist bobsled driver Steve Holcomb, successfully reversing the athlete’s corneal degeneration, or keratoconus.
Prior to launching his career as an eye surgeon nearly two decades ago, Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler received a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Dartmouth Medical School. Upon conclusion of his formal medical education, he pursued advanced training in ophthalmology, which included a multiyear residency at the St. Louis University School of Medicine, followed by a one-year cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the University of Kansas.
Aware that candidates for eye surgery may experience anxiety at the prospect of undergoing a surgical procedure, Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler strives to forge close bonds with each patient and encourages them to communicate by e-mail or cell phone, both before and after surgery.
