Bob Watson - Professional Summary: [ Not Updated Yet ] Graduated B.Sc. Chemical Engineering; upgraded to MIChemE and held a number of Senior Engineer positions in processing Companies overseas, like Mobil Oil, and Anglo American. Also qualified as Management Account (Not nearly as boring as the CA; or auditors!!) Sent by employers to Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme and to study strategic Management at INSEAD.
As well as the overseas positions I returned to the UK and ran a number of major subsidiaries for several UK listed Companies, as Managing Director.
After several Interim management roles in the 90s I joined the Institute of Independent Business over 10 years ago and was elevated to Fellowship ca 2000.

Now offer my skills to assist SMEs obtain Funding for growth, via Grants or other routes, and that is highly fulfilling, as over the years my experience has built up and I can take the yearning out of learning for SMEs, coming to a solution quickly and economically.
Bob Watson - Education: [ Not Updated Yet ] Schooled in Glasgow Hillhead and Allan Glens; I went to Glasgow University and graduated B.Sc. in Chem. Eng. (a brilliant and very useful subject and one which I am delighted I undertook, as it has given me a training in problem solving which is, I think, second to none in its rigour and value.
I ended up becoming a very effective troubleshooter and problem resolver for my employers.
This skill is now available to SMEs.

Family; I have 3 children; A daughter, a nurse and now pharma sales person in England, a son, Civil Engineer, but now Sales Manager for Burn Stewart, a spirits manufacturer in Scotland, selling their products, Hine cognac, Angostura Bitters and Jamaica rum all around the Mediterranean from his base in Madrid. The 3rd is a Vet in Scotland, who also has an internet business, and 2 super girls, plus a super wife!!
As well as family I enjoy golf, and watching rugby.
I also enjoy a good read and having been to South Africa late last year am reading Nelson Mandela's 'Long Road to Freedom'. Also recently read the Kite Runner a fantastically written book about Afghanistan, written by an Afghani. The tears were real!!
