About Bill Gazes

Bill Gazes is an American professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada. He has been playing poker since 1993 and his favorite game is Omaha, which he learned to play when he was living in Los Angeles, California.

Bill Gazes is considered to be a true all around poker player and has a reputation of having better knowledge of the math of the game, when compared to many others. His varied skills have helped him succeed in different forms of poker, a feat rarely achieved by other poker players. While most players struggle to strike a balance between the two styles of the game – tournaments and cash games, Bill Gazes has consistently succeeded in doing so. He has cashed in a number of events, including Limit Hold'em, Pot-Limit Hold'em, No-Limit Hold'em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Seven Card Stud, and more.

While competing in poker tournaments, Bill Gazes reveled in the level of competition, which he felt was missing in cash games, and he saw an opportunity to make more money. Before entering the World Series of Poker, he succeeded in many small tournaments in Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Bill Gazes holds the rare distinction of having cashed in at least one event in every World Series of Poker from the years 1997 to 2005. On April 25, 1997, he came fourth in the race for the 28th Annual World Series of Poker title, cashing $46,150 in the $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event.

Bill Gazes emerged victorious in the No-Limit Hold’em event at the Carnival of Poker, which was held on January 22, 2000, and earned a whopping $111,142 in cash. Bill Gazes pocketed another $53,865 on February 9, 2002 by finishing sixth in Event 9 Limit Hold’em at the LA Poker Classic tournament. Later that year, he was second runner-up at the Legends of Poker World Poker Tour Season 1 for the No-Limit Hold’em event. During the 2004 LA Poker Classic – WPT Season 2, Bill Gazes finished in 4th place with $226,890.

His biggest cash in at the World Series of Poker, by far, has been at the 36th Annual WSOP. He was the second runner-up in this 2005 tournament and earned more than $200,000 in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event. However, the greatest cash in of his poker career was at the World Poker Finals/WPT Event Season 4, where he bagged a staggering $759,000 by securing third place in the No-Limit Hold’em event. Bill Gazes also came in second place at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker in the WSOP H.O.R.S.E event, in which he went home with $153,408. On April 2, 2008, Bill Gazes pocketed an additional $68,205 at the Foxwoods Poker Classic in the No-Limit Hold’em event by coming third. As of 2008, he has cashed in 25 times at the WSOP and nine times at the World Poker Tour.

Though Bill Gazes is yet to finish first at the WSOP and WPT, the fact that he has accumulated over $2.1 million in tournament winnings proves that he is a skilled player that is bound to reach the top. Based on his enormous success, Full Tilt Poker has sponsored Bill Gazes and made him a Full Tilt Pro.
