About Bernard Von Bothmer
As part of the promotional process for Framing the Sixties: The Use and Abuse of a Decade from Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush, Bernard von Bothmer completed a string of appearances in which he spoke about how the era of social revolution continues to inform the American political landscape. A versatile historian, Bernard von Bothmer completed interviews with upwards of 120 political advisors, cabinet members, activists, and reporters to supplement his thesis.
Using these sources as well as a comprehensive pool of research, Bernard von Bothmer offers readers a deep look into the conceived dichotomy of the 1960s, from the “golden years” of John F. Kennedy’s presidency to the volatile climate surrounding the Vietnam War. In addition to appearing with LA Talk Radio, Boston’s WDIS-AM, The Commonwealth Club of California: San Francisco, and at various other venues across the country, he enjoyed a host of positive reviews from media like CHOICE, The Journal of American History, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Conservative Monitor, and American Chronicle. Furthermore, Framing the Sixties garnered positive mention from renowned journalist Tom Brokaw.
Bernard von Bothmer's educational background included a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, a Master of Arts from Stanford University, and a Doctorate from Indiana University. Outside of his recognition as an author, he is a committed instructor; in fact, he recently received the University of San Francisco’s 2010 Distinguished Lecturer Award. Von Bothmer also leads graduate and undergraduate students at Dominican University. A scholar with an understanding of many eras throughout United States history, he teaches courses such as Puritans, Witches, Indians, and Slavery; The American Presidency in the 20th Century; Bob Dylan: An American Troubadour; and Columbus to Clinton: U.S. History from 1492 to 1992.
