About Bernard Mendy


Bernard Mendy is a French defender of Senegalese origin born on August 20, 1981 in Normandy. He made his international debut in 2000 at the U-18 European Championship. In May 2004, Bernard Mendy was selected for the French national football team to play in the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Centenary game against Brazil. He went on to make two further appearances for the national team in 2004.


Bernard Mendy kick started his career with SM Caen youth club, a French football team and later moved to the senior squad in 1998. He has appeared in 34 games and scored twice for the club. In 2000, he joined Paris Saint-Germain F.C., a club that he always admired, to achieve his ambitions. Subsequently, in 2002, he was sent on a loan to Bolton Wanderers F.C. Bernard Mendy won the highly coveted ‘Best Ligue 1 right wing defender Union Nationale des Footballeurs professionnels (UNFP)’ title in 2004. He contributed for the team’s victory when Paris Saint-Germain F.C. lifted the French Cup in 2004 and 2006.


Bernard Mendy calmly converted a penalty into a goal in the finals of the Coupe de la Ligue against RC Lens in 2008 and helped his team to win the match 2-1. After making over 200 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain F.C., he signed a three year deal with Hull City F.C., in June 2008.
