 With offices in Aliso Viejo and Orange, California, Barry Slone, Ph.D. is a distinguished Southern California psychologist who treats patients in his private practice. After achieving a B.S. Ed. in Social Sciences, an M.A. Ed. in Child Psychology and a second Master's degree, an M.C. in Counseling Psychology, Dr. Barry Slone gained admission to the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, where he fulfilled the requirements for a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. While pursuing his Ph.D., Dr. Slone completed internships at several mental health facilities, including Professional Counseling Services in El Cajon, California, Jewish Family Services of San Diego, and Catholic Community Services of San Diego. Following graduation Dr. Barry Slone accepted a residency at the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (San Diego) in its Behavioral Medicine Program. While there, Dr. Slone treated individuals, couples, and families, as well as conducting psycho-educational groups addressing morbid obesity, smoking cessation, and stress management. Dr. Slone was recruited by the Fullerton Internal Medicine Group, in Fullerton, California, where he developed, installed, and directed the FULLHEALTH Behavioral Medicine Program helping patients develop and implement new skills and strategies for managing weight, nicotine dependence, and stress. Two years later, Dr. Barry Slone established his private practices in Aliso Viejo and Orange. Employing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dr. Slone provides treatment for individuals of all ages by combining education, skill building, and problem solving to create comprehensive solutions. Dr. Barry Slone works collaboratively with his patients to determine the behavioral patterns and thinking errors preventing them from fully enjoying their lives. Once Dr. Slone and the patient identify these specific challenges, he demonstrates effective methods to help the client address, cope with, and overcome the concerns which brought them to treatment. The aim of Dr. Barry Slone’s treatment is to empower patients to embrace a new outlook on life. Specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, phobias, relationship conflict, and substance-related disorders, Dr. Slone treats a wide range of behavioral and mental health concerns. Outside his practice in Aliso Viejo, Dr. Barry Slone has provided psychological services at a number of hospitals, including, Laguna Hills Hospital and Mental Health Center, Saint Joseph Hospital, and Samaritan San Clemente Medical Center. Additionally, Dr. Slone has taught graduate-level psychology courses and trained interns at California State University, Fullerton for more than a decade. Dr. Slone has observed, by the time we reach early adulthood, we have lived an imperfect life. No one escapes challenge, mistakes, struggle, or disappointment. Dr. Barry Slone is also a provider for Military One Source, an initiative offering service members and their families an avenue for dealing with personal life issues in the context of a confidential relationship with a mental health professional outside of the military sphere. Dr. Slone works with the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board, through its Victim of Crimes Program, providing low- or no-cost psychological service to victims of violent crimes and their families. Dr. Slone also treats incarcerated and at-risk youth and their families through the Orange County Juvenile Probation Department. Dr. Barry Slone accepts most insurance plans and offers a sliding fee schedule for individuals and families with financial need. In addition to being licensed by the State of California as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Slone is also licensed as a marriage, family, and child therapist.
