About Barackie12
When thinking about a mirror one usually thinks about one at home where you look and admire yourself for hours. It can be said that for some people, mirrors are their best friends with which they can spend endless hours talking. But that not true for everyone. Mirrors also give a reflection into our strong points and our drawbacks. But that is not the only thing that mirrors can do in our lives. A few years back, some person realized other benefits of a mirror. He thought of placing mirrors in strategic locations to use for security purposes. He saw that when they are placed in tactical locations they can give an almost 180 degree view. One such mirror is attached to our cars, the rear view mirror. With this realization came the thought of using dome mirrors as security items.
A convex dome mirror has a curved surface bulging outwards. The reflection of light is outward in these mirrors and they are never used to focus light. Objects appear smaller in these mirrors hence they cover a wider viewing area. Convex dome mirrors are extremely versatile security devices and can be installed discreetly. They offer a wider viewing area which is why these mirrors are preferred over others for outdoor safety and as traffic road mirrors. These dome mirrors are of several types that includes a full dome, a half dome and a quarter domes. The full dome gives a 360 degree and is used n four way intersections where complete visibility is required. While the quarter dome is used on a smaller basis in rooms and gives a 90 degree view. Such a mirror would not be useful for traffic road mirror. The most used as a traffic road safety mirror is the half dome which provides a 180 degree view. These are usually placed at junctions and at ‘Ts’ of a road.
This is used at three way intersections and is like a semi circle. They prevent accidents collisions at blind corners. For example if a situation arises that you are driving down a road approaching an intersection. Thinking that no other car is approaching, you take a turn and collide with a fast moving car. In such a situation if a security domes mirror convex would have been placed at the corner, then viewing it would have made you see the approaching car. Different versions have been created of these mirrors that are used for inspection and security purposes.
The use of convex mirrors is seen in every country nowadays and as more awareness has been created among the people, authorities are putting more security mirrors for the safety of their people. Making use of these mirrors is up to the drivers and people by which they can prevent a lot of accidents and dangerous situations.
