Anthony Rivera, nicknamed "Tongni", was born in 1986 in St. Louis, MO and currently resides in Henderson, NV, United States. He went to the University of Missouri, but decided to quit his education to play poker.
Up to the year 2008 Anthony Rivera has participated in only three live tournaments. His first appearance in the poker world was on March 12, 2006 in the Party Poker Million V - No-Limit Hold'em event where he placed 40th and won $19,000. Two years later in the beginning of 2008 his luck had not changed much, when he entered the 2007/2008 WSOP Circuit Event - Caesars Atlantic City on March 07. Anthony Rivera took part in Event #3 - No Limit Hold'em where he placed 51st and won only $740. On June 4th was the first time that Anthony Rivera made a name of himself on the poker scene as he took 1st place in the 39th Annual World Series of Poker Mixed Event and won $483,688 along with a bracelet.
In an interview after his big win Anthony Rivera shared some personal information about himself. Acorrding to him he does not have a game which is his strongest and prefers to play in the mixed games. “I play a lot of the mixed games at the Bellagio and the Commerce, so it seemed like the natural choice.” Anthoy Rivera answers when asked about his choice of event.
At present those three entrys remain Anthony Rivera`s only ones. Altogether he has 1 first place finish, 1 final table, 3 money finishes and total winnings coming up to $ 502,688. His ranks are as follows: All Time WSOP Ranking – 765, All Time IAR Ranking – 1654 and Active Players IAR Ranking – 591.
