A real estate investor with a passion for poker, Anthony Argila is still an unknown quantity on the global poker circuit. A resident of Bellmore, New York, the highlight of Argila’s foray into poker came at the World Poker Tour’s Borgata Open in 2006, where he made the final table.
Anthony Argila’s first standout tournament performance came at the No Limit Hold'em at the Friday Night Freeze Out at the Harrah's Atlantic City in March 2005. In a field of 190 and a prize pool of $95,000 to play for, Argila placed 5th, earning $5,700 for his performance.
Argila then made his first major tournament appearance at the 36th Annual World Series of Poker in July 2005 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, but failed to make an impression. In a field of 5,619, Anthony Argila finished the No Limit Hold'em Championship in a disappointing 271st place, earning him $24,365 of the staggering $52,819,610 prize pool.
Anthony Argila had another disappointing outing at the Borgata Winter Open, held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City in January 2006. Playing for a share of the $648,010 prize pool in a field of 864 competitors, he finished a mediocre 75th, earning him a meager $972.
His return to the Borgata Casino in September 2006, however, saw a change in fortune for Argila. In the No Limit Hold'em Championship at the 4th Borgata Poker Open, Argila, with his three-year-old son Antony George by his side, registered his most impressive tournament performance yet. With 863 other competitors vying for a chunk of the $648,010 prize pool, Anthony Argila made the final table and eventually finished 4th and took home his biggest tournament check of $366,660.
