Annette Obrestad is a 19-year-old professional poker player from Sandnes, Rogaland, Norway, who was born on September 18, 1988. She is claimed to be one of the most talented and successful online multi-table tournament players in the world and she is the youngest player ever to win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet. Anentte Obrestad started to play online poker at the age of 15 and since then, her name is very often seen at the top tournament leader boards. Of course, few parents would let their children play poker at the age of 15 and Annette’ case was similar, because her mother didn’t let her use her credit card to enter online tournaments. So she signed for a free roll tournament, where she won 9$ and that was actually enough to start a really successful poker career. With many first place finishes in live and online poker tournaments, her total winnings exceed $2,300,000. She played primarily on Ultimate Bet, Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker web sites, where between September 2006 and February 2007, she won over one million dollars. Winning the $500,000 guaranteed tournament on Full Tilt Poker site brought her $117,000, beating 3267 other players. Her biggest achievement was wining the World Series of Poker £10,000 No Limit Main Event, where she profited £1,000,000, beating poker celebrities like Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman and Paul Wasicka.
Obrestad is mostly known by her online screen name “Annette_15”, which scares numerous poker players from all over the world. A curious moment in her poker career is the 180-person WSOPE tournament, where Annette Obrestad finished first without even looking at her cards. She won the entire tournament just by focusing on position and reading other players. She stated that instincts are more valuable than knowing your cards, and so she proved everyone that winning blind poker is truly possible. Annette Obrestad has the amazing ability to pick up chips when she notices the other player’s weakness, regardless of her hand. For now, she is forbidden to play in United States World Series of Poker live tournaments, because of her age. Only players that are over 21 are allowed to enter US live poker tournaments, so until 2009, Annette Obrestad will have to satisfy with European and online tournaments. She is part of the world's largest Internet betting exchange called BetFair, alongside with Sorel Mizzi and John Tabatabai. Currently, she is ranked second to poker professional Thor Hansen among Norwegian poker players in the all-time money list in live tournaments.
