About Anne Hersh
Anne Hersh - Professional Summary:
Anne Hersh has over 40 years of experience as an architect, heading the firm of Anne Hersh, A.I.A. Architect, in Corning, New York. Anne Hersh’s firm has spearheaded the design of many projects, including residential, religious, municipal, and commercial buildings. The full-service firm provides new construction services, plans additions and renovations, and consults on historic preservation projects. While much of Anne Hersh’s practice encompasses the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier of New York, in 1997 the firm opened a Caribbean branch office in Nevis, part of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Some of Hersh’s notable designs include the public libraries of Trumansburg, Watkins Glen, and Bath, New York, as well as the Seaside at Cliffdwellers condominiums in Nevis. The firm offers end-to-end architectural services, from planning and design through construction inspection.
Before establishing her own business in 1990, Anne Hersh was employed at the firm of Joseph A. Connell, where she later became a Partner. Joseph A. Connell subsequently merged with Hunt Engineers; Hersh served as a Partner at that firm as well. Anne Hersh’s approach to architecture seeks to balance aesthetics, functional planning, and cost control for an enduring design statement.
Anne Hersh is a member of The American Institute of Architects and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She has also been active with Caribbean Volunteer Expeditions and is involved with United Way Worldwide. Hersh also partnered with Suzanne Gordon to write Searching for Sugar Mills: An Architectural Guide to the Eastern Caribbean. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Master of Arts in Art History from The University of Chicago. In her personal time, Anne Hersh enjoys jogging, hiking, and reading.
