Annand Ramdin was born on May 28, 1968 and is a professional poker player. Though he is currently residing in New York with his wife and two kids, he is originally from Guyana, where he worked as a taxi driver. In an interview, he said that he was once so poor that making ends meet was his main priority. He migrated to the United States of America and is now settled in the Bronx, where he runs several shops and invests in real estate.


Annand Ramdin learned how to play poker only in 2002, after seeing his friends play the game in a local bar. He later trained professionally under Phil Ivey, a famous American professional poker player. His first tournament was the U.S. Poker Championship on December 11, 2002, in which he managed to finish eighth in the Limit Hold’em event. Annand Ramdin had his first major cash in at the 34th Annual World Series of Poker where he bagged $35,000 for his 29th-place finish in the No-Limit Hold’em event on May 23, 2003. Later that year, on November 24th, he competed in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em event of the Showdown at the Sands tournament and went on to secure third place, taking home $203,700.


On October 30, 2004, Annand Ramdin emerged victorious from the World Poker Finals/World Poker Tour Event Season 3. During the Limit Hold’em event, he pocketed another $65,200. The following year, he cashed $56,615 in the No-Limit Hold’em event at the Five Star World Poker Classic of the WPT Championship Season 3. He reached the final table at the PartyPoker Million V cruise and walked away with $100,000 for his ninth-place finish.


Annand Ramdin became popular in the poker world for his win at the Foxwoods Poker Classic of the World Poker Tour Event Season 4, where he was the proud recipient of $1,331,889 in prize money. He achieved this feat on April 9, 2006 against Alex Jacob, whose Kd Jc was defeated by the Ah Js thrown in by Annand Ramdin on a board of Qh 7h 3s 8s Jh. Just two weeks after this impressive victory, he went to Las Vegas and managed to take away $146,460 at the Five-Star World Poker Classic for his 11th-place finish. Formerly a friend of Full Tilt Poker, he signed on as a member of Team PokerStars in the summer of 2006.


Annand Ramdin had a memorable run in 2007 as well, beginning with his first ever final-table finish at the World Series of Poker in the WSOP Shootout – Limit Hold’em event. His next breakthrough was winning $54,321 at the Borgata Poker Open of the WPT in the No-Limit Hold’em event. Annand Ramdin has made his mark in the world of poker by earning more than $2 million in total tournament winnings, finishing in first place twice, and cashing in 38 times, all within such a short period of time.


He plays under the nickname “Victor” at the poker table and uses the screen name “VictorRamdin” when he plays online for Team PokerStars Pro. He says that currently he is only a semi-pro at poker, but he aspires to become a complete professional player someday.
When Annand Ramdin is not busy playing poker, he contributes his time and money to charity. Being a philanthropist, he is committed to helping the underprivileged living in Guyana. He has been a long-time member of Guyana Watch, a group that provides medical care to those in need, and is presently the vice president as well. He once donated $100,000 to First Lady Varshnie Jagdeo of Guyana to help her take 13 children and 4 adults to India for special medical treatment. Annand Ramdin also enjoys playing 4-ball billiards, 8-ball pool, 9-ball billiards, darts, and cricket, when he is not playing poker.
