Ankeet Chavan is a 22-year-old cricket player from Mumbai, India. Still very new to the professional scene, Chavan was recruited by the Mumbai Indians for the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League. However, Chavan did not take the field for any of the team’s matches and is yet to make his Twenty20 debut.
On India’s domestic circuit, Ankeet Chavan represents various teams, including Mumbai, Mumbai Cricket Association XI, and the Mumbai Indians. In the past, Chavan has also played for the Mumbai Under-19 and Mumbai Under-22 teams.
Ankeet Chavan entered the domestic circuit in 2008 and only made 5 List A match appearances in his rookie season. The left-handed middle-order batsman had a mediocre season with the bat, only managing 60 runs in four innings, 24 not out being his highest score. Chavan, a left-arm spinner, didn’t fare any better with the ball either, picking up just two wickets with a bowling average of 73.50.
The Mumbai Indians recruited the local youngster for the inaugural season of the IPL, paying Rs 2.5 million for his services.
